Grand Aquarium
Discover Hong Kong’s Grand Aquarium at Ocean Park – one of the world’s largest acrylic domes, home to 400+ marine species in stunning, themed underwater zones.

Brief History: Opened in 2011 as part of Ocean Park’s major redevelopment project, the Grand Aquarium quickly became one of the park’s signature attractions. Designed by Peddle Thorp Architects, it was built to provide an immersive journey into the underwater world and to highlight marine conservation. Notable Features: The aquarium’s striking exterior resembles a giant nautilus shell, crafted with curved steel and glass panels. Inside, visitors encounter over 5,000 fish from 400+ species displayed across multiple zones, culminating in the massive 13-meter-wide acrylic viewing dome – one of the largest in the world. Fun Fact: The dome’s acrylic panel is so clear that it gives the illusion of swimming alongside giant rays and hammerhead sharks. Current Use/Visitor Info: Tourists can wander through themed habitats like coral reefs, kelp forests, and deep-sea zones. Photography is allowed but without flash to protect marine life.
